Deputy Director of the Clinic for Infectious and Tropical Diseases in Belgrade Ivana Milosevic has warned that without the vaccination of a large number of citizens, the coronavirus epidemic will only stretch on endlessly, and so all segments of life will continue to suffer.
"There is no greater civilizational achievement than vaccines. Does it make sense anymore, with all the dead people and those who have gone through severe forms of the disease, to call vaccination into question," Milosevic told the July 30 issue of daily Danas.
She pointed out that "there are so many vaccines available that it is rude, irresponsible and selfish, to say the least, that there are a number of citizens who do not want to get vaccinated."
"Only through vaccination can we make the coronavirus a thing of the past, or at least of an acceptable present," said Milosevic.
When asked what lay ahead of Serbia in the coming weeks and months, she replied that an increase in the number of new cases was inevitable. As regards the spread of the Delta variant, she explained that there was no difference in the symptoms and treatment now, compared to the previous period.
