Kosovo Premier Albin Kurti on Aug. 2 told a session of the Kosovo Assembly that his cabinet had not abandoned establishing reciprocity with Serbia, but moved carefully to make sure the process did not fall through.

Kurti recalled that a resolution on full political, economic and commercial reciprocity with Serbia had been adopted in 2011, adding that he had expounded on the principle in meetings in Brussels. We showed that to international factors and left time for implementation, Kurti added.

Kurti explained that his cabinet wanted full and appropriate implementation of reciprocity, adding that it was not revenge, but a healthy principle between two equal sides. He went on to say that his government was not establishing reciprocity as a way to put up road blocks, but to remove them, noting that it would be established after thorough preparations.

During the election campaign for elections for the Assembly in February, Kurti spoke of establishing full political, economic and commercial reciprocity with Serbia as one of the main points in the relationship to Serbia, while, after taking office as premier, he said the reciprocity measure would be exercised in close cooperation with international allies.
