In the last 24 hours, five persons died linked to Covid-19, with the death toll reaching 7,188, according to the data published on website covid19.rs on Aug. 19.

In the same period, 1,656 tested positive out of 12,869 swab tests. A total of 917 persons have been hospitalized, of whom 28 are on ventilators.

Epidemiologist Zoran Radovanovic has said that in the time when Serbia has been reporting more than 1,000 new cases on a daily basis, it is not logical that the Crisis Headquarters has said that additional countermeasures will yet to be considered.

“They had to think in advance, restrictions had to be in place before daily numbers of new cases reached 500,” Radovanovic, a member of the Council of the association United Against COVID, told the Aug. 19 issue of Belgrade weekly NIN.
