Four people have died of COVID-19 in Serbia in the last 24 hours and the death toll of the epidemic now stands at 7,218, it was announced on Aug. 23.
According to the Serbian Health Ministry's covid19.rs website, 12,091 people were tested in the same time frame, 1,837 of whom were found to be positive for SARS-CoV-2.
There are 961 patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19, 39 of whom on ventilators. Since the beginning of the outbreak, 4,915,426 people have been tested in Serbia, and 744,150 were confirmed positive for the virus causing the disease.
Radmilo Jankovic, deputy director of the Nis University Clinic Center, has said that the Serbian COVID Crisis Headquarters, slated to meet on Aug. 24, and the Serbian cabinet would move toward COVID passes. Jankovic told the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation that "something must be done" and that he did not believe appeals could accomplish much more at this point.
