Dobrica Veselinovic and Nebojsa Zelenovic, representatives of the Not Let Belgrade D(r)own and Together for Serbia, respectively, have talked with members of the European Parliament in Brussels about “the further crumbling of democracy in Serbia” and a lack of political will on the part of the authorities to improve election conditions.
The two political groups have announced that they also talked about “the pressures on activists, independent media and political opponents of the Aleksandar Vucic regime.”
Veselinovic and Zelenovic, who are on a three-day visit to Brussels, began on Sept. 7 a series of meetings with representatives of the European Parliament and other EU institutions.
On the first day of their visit, the two of them met with MEP Tanja Fajon, who also chairs the EP Stabilization and Association Committee and is a mediator in the inter-party dialogue on election conditions proceeding under the auspices of the EU and MEP Demetris Papadakis.
Speaking about the inter-party dialogue on improving election conditions mediated by the EU, Veselinovic and Zelenovic brought to Tanja Fajon’s attention “obstructions coming from the authorities and a lack of political will to truly improve these conditions,” the joint press release said, adding that what they requested was “a more resolute role of EU mediators in the process
