Film Director Goran Markovic said on Sept. 16 that while stadiums throughout the world are filled with men women and children, Serbian bleachers are occupied by “murderers and cannibals” controlled by the authorities.
“They’re an army reserve, a phalanx. Set loose, they attack anyone who bothers their master. They’re blindly loyal and prepared to do anything they’re told to,” Markovic said in an interview for the latest edition of the NIN weekly.
The director also stated that crime has permeated all facets of Serbia’s public life and that the country is an example of a “crimocracy.”
Commenting on the announcement that pensioners will receive RSD20,000 ahead of the upcoming elections, Markovic said that the sum appears to be the price tag President Aleksandar Vucic “has put on human dignity” and expresses “just how much each of us humiliated beggars are worth.”
With regards to the opposition, Markovic said they were “an undefinable commonplace” and added that he believed in public outcry. “The streets are where our fate is decided. . . . Honestly, I don’t believe I’ll ever see the day when these criminals hand over power peacefully,” Markovic stressed.
