EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell has hosted an informal dinner party with the leaders of the Western Balkans in the margins of the U.N. General Assembly, at which they discussed the situation in the region and its relations with the EU, as well as the preparations for the EU-Western Balkan summit due in early October.
“It provided an opportunity to discuss expectations on EU accession. The High Representative underlined the need for strong commitment from both the Western Balkans partners and the European Union and its member states to overcome current dynamics and move the process forward,” the European External Action Service (EEAS) announced on Sept. 22.
The meeting held on Sept. 21 was attended by Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic, North Macedonia President Stevo Pendarovski, Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency Chairman Zeljko Komsic, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and Serbian Foreign Minister Nikola Selakovic.
This was the second such meeting hosted by the high representative after the informal dinner in May in Brussels, the press release added.
