45 people died from the consequences of the coronavirus infection in Serbia in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of fatalities to 8.187, it was announced on the vocid19.rs web-site on Sept. 29.
The presence of the virus was confirmed in 8,171 cases among the 24,847 people who were tested. There are 6,241 covid patients currently being treated in hospitals, 243 of them on ventilators. 5,626,417 people have been tested since the start of the epidemic in Serbia and 934,440 were positive for the virus.
The chief of the Clinic for Infectious Diseases in Nis, Steva Stanisic, stated on Sept. 29 that vaccination was still "the most effective" means of protection, although the efficiency of all vaccines declined in contact with the new delta strain.
