Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo are not invited to attend this year's Summit for Democracy hosted by U.S. President Joseph Biden.
A hundred states are on the invite list, including Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia, the U.S. Politico quoted its sources as saying on Nov. 5.
Biden will host the virtual summit which is supposed to bring together representatives of government, civil society and the private sector. The focus of the debate will be the challenges faced by democracy today, as well as the opportunities that it offers. Biden's team is shaping the agenda which is still confidential.
A spokesperson for the U.S. embassy in Pristina said that the Summit for Democracy was an initiative that could not gather all partners, as the goal was to include democracies with diverse populations.
