In Serbia so far, 8,183,520 doses of vaccines against the coronavirus have been administered, with 1,306 adverse reactions reported, the competent bodies announced on Dec. 24.

The director of the Institute of Public Health Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut, Verica Jovanovic, told public service RTS that more than 3,189,000 people had received the second dose, while 1,687,756 had received the third, booster dose. She again stressed the importance of immunization and urged everyone to get vaccinated, adding that Dec. 24 marked the first anniversary of the start of immunization against the coronavirus in Serbia.

"We need to achieve a much greater scope of immunization," said Jovanovic and appealed to citizens to particularly make sure to implement all the epidemiological measures because of the appearance of the Omicron variant.

A representative of the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency of Serbia, Jelena Mitrasinovic, said that the Agency had received reports of 1,306 cases of adverse reactions to the vaccines. In her words, the majority of said reactions were not serious and were localized and expected.

Mitrasinovic also said that the Agency was in the process of registering the Johnson&Johnson jab.
