Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic met in Paris, on Feb.11, with her French counterpart, Jean Castex, to discuss European affairs, bilateral relations, economic and military-technical cooperation, saying that the key message was that French President Emmanuel Macron was personally committed to the development of French-Serbian relations.

“The key message is that President Macron is personally committed to working on improving political and economic relations between France and Serbia, and that he personally monitors many French investments in Serbia,” Brnabic said after meeting with the French prime minister.

Brnabic said that over the past five years trade between France and Serbia had gone up 36.4 percent, and that in the last four it had exceeded EUR1bn a year, and that trade reached close to EUR1.4 billion in 2021 alone. “There is a potential for increasing this tenfold,” the Serbian prime minister said, adding that French investors had demonstrated a keen interest in the Serbian market.

Brnabic said that good news could be expected in the next few weeks and months, including a plan by the Michelin Group to expand its investment portfolio, while Egis was mulling opening a regional engineering hub in Belgrade, the Government of Serbia quoted the prime minister as saying in a press release on its website.
