A Montenegrin deputy prime minister, Dritan Abazovic, also the leader of the Civic Movement URA, said on Feb. 21 that “if wise enough, Montenegro will have a cabinet in place very quckly.”

In an interview with the Croatian Radio and Television (HRT), Abazovic said that “we should do our utmost to make it happen.” “If we fail for any reason, there’s no other option but to return seats to citizens, and let them decide in a new election who they want to run Montenegro in the coming period,” the URA leader said.

When asked what caused the deadlock, contrary to claims that Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic would appoint him a prime minister designate, Abazovic explained that usually the politician able to create a new cabinet was given the mandate, even though things might be different in practice. “There’s no reason to rush. I do not have the exclusive right to creating a new government,” he said.

When asked if Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic had an influence on Montenegro, and how big it might be, the Montenegrin politician said that “Vucic has his political favorites in Monenegro.” “There’s nothing we can do about it. I am on the other side, so to speak. We represent a different political subject, a different political view, a different vision,” he said.
