Ukrainian Ambassador to Serbia Oleksander Aleksandrovich has said that Ukraine and its people are expecting from Serbia to condemn Russia’s decision to recognize independence of two breakaway regions in eastern Ukraine.
Aleksandrovich told TV N1 on Feb. 22 he was thankful to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic who had on several occasions said that Belgrade respected sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine as Kiev honored Serbia’s territorial integrity with Kosovo included.
“But it is important take another step as the act of Russian President Vladimir Putin is directly against sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Therefore, Kiev and the Ukrainian people are expecting from Serbia to condemn the decision of the Russian Federation,” the outgoing Ukrainian ambassador stressed.
Aleksandrovich also said he fully agreed with Vucic’s opinion that this act would destroy the political and security architecture in the world. “I fully share his opinion. The Russian Federation is the only country destroying that architecture,” the Ukrainian ambassador noted.
