Kosovo Premier Albin Kurti stated on June 1 that he had no information about the government having a proposal about the forming of the Community of Serb Municipalities, stressing that Kosovo had a Community of Municipalities and that it was sufficient.
This was Kurti's response to a statement of MEP Viola von Cramon, who has stated that the Kosovo government had a proposal about the forming of the Community of Serb Municipalities. He pointed out that the Constitution of Kosovo did not allow ethnic-based communities.
"As the premier of Kosovo, I am not aware of any plan for a Community of Municipalities with a Serb majority. This issue has been considered many times and I have nothing to add. The Constitution of Kosovo does not tolerate association on ethnic grounds. An association can exist on developmental, but not on ethnic grounds. The citizens of Kosovo want work, justice, education, health and the fight against corruption," Kurti told the media in Pristina, as reported by the portal Kosovo-online.
