According to the Serbian Statistics Office, Serbia, without Kosovo and Metohija, was inhabited by 6,797,105 people on Jan. 1, 2022.
The Office recorded 62,180 births and 136,622 deaths in 2021. The negative population growth rate is 74,442.
Seven-year-old children make up 6.5 percent of the population, the age group between seven and 14 accounts for 7.8 percent, and the young people between 15 and 29 years of age comprise 16.3 percent of the Serbian population. The 30-49 age category is the largest, making up 27.9 percent of the population. Every fifth Serb is between 50 and 64, and the population age 65 and above accounts for 21.3 percent.
The Serbian Statistics Office recorded 32,757 marriages in 2021, along with 9,790 divorces.
