Vucic To Conclude Talks on Prime Minister Designate

Monday, July 18 will see the final round of talks regarding the next prime minister designate, held between Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and the representatives of parliamentary groups.

The day’s series of sit downs will take place at the Presidency Building in Belgrade and will begin with Vucic meeting the NADA coalition, comprising the New Democratic Party of Serbia and Vojislav Mihailovic’s Movement for the Restoration of the Kingdom of Serbia. Next, the president will see representatives of the electoral ticket put forth by the Socialist Party of Serbia and their associates, which will be followed by talks with the United for the Victory of Serbia coalition. Lastly, Vucic will meet with the parliamentary group headed by the Serbian Progressive Party.

Of the remaining parties that passed the threshold in the April 3 general elections, the People’s Party and the Democratic Party – both part of the United for the Victory of Serbia coalition – have announced that they will not participate in the negotiations regarding the new prime minister designate, while the Freedom and Justice Party stated that it would.

The consultations began on July 14, when Vucic met separately with representatives of the Albanian Coalition of Presevo Valley, the Together for Vojvodina – Vojvodjani coalition (comprising the Democratic Alliance of Croats in Vojvodina and Together for Vojvodina) and Usame Zukorlic’s Mufti’s Legacy – The Justice and Reconciliation Party ticket. Sulejman Ugljanin’s Party of Democratic Action of Sandzak chose not to attend their meeting. The following day Vucic held separate talks with the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians, the Oath Keepers party and the coalition gathered around the Dveri movement.

Ahead of the talks, the We Must coalition and the Don’t Let Belgrade D(r)own movement both stated they would not participate in the negotiations.
