Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi arrived in Belgrade on July 20 and commenced his visit with a sit-down with his Serbian counterpart, Aleksandar Vucic. The first Egyptian leader to visit Belgrade in 35 years, El-Sisi was officially welcomed in a ceremony in front of the Palace of Serbia to tunes of each country’s national anthem and an inspection of the honor guard.
Following the timeeng between the two state heads is a conference between the delegations of Egypt and Serbia, after which Vucic will present El-Sisi with a medal. The agenda for the visit also includes participation in a Serbian-Egyptian business forum, as well as the signing of 13 declarations and agreements between the two countries.
The last Egyptian president to pay a visit to Belgrade was Hosni Mubarak, who, in 1987, stayed in the Serbian capital during his bilateral visit to what was then the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
