British Conservative Party member Lord Nicholas Herbert has said that Serbia can do more to secure holding EuroPride and that everyone needs to have a full and active role in society.
"It is disappointing that the authorities in Serbia have cast doubt on whether or not events, which they assumed to obligation to organize, can happen, for security reasons. I hope that this manifestation will be organized in a secure and peaceful spirit," Herbert told the Sept. 8 edition of the Vreme weekly.
He said that EuroPride was a big moment for the LGBT+ community in Serbia and across the Western Balkans and added that he would head a delegation from Great Britain at the Pride.
"We are in touch with the organizers and the Serbian government and I welcome their efforts to find a solution to organize EuroPride in a safe and peaceful manner, as planned," he said, adding that the Pride was an opportunity for Belgrade to show "its tolerant and hospitable face."
