The new building of Serbia’s embassy in Washington, which Serbia bought last February, has been officially opened, and Ambassador Marko Djuric cut the ribbon together with the U.S. special envoy for the Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, the Voice of America reported on Oct. 12.
“The opening of the new embassy testifies to ever closer bilateral ties and ou resolve to expand the relationship so as to include many new spheres of cooperation in the future,” Djuric said, reading a letter by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
The United States is still our reliable partner and advocate for a few key priorities of Serbia’s foreign policy, including accession to the European Union and commitment to peace and stability in the Balkans,” Vucic said in the letter, underlining also the U.S. support to the Open Balkan Initative and describing the U.S. as “Serbia’s key partner and friend.”
Escobar said that diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Serbia have never been better. “Thank you for opening your home here. As we are celebrating the 140th anniversary, our diplomatic relations have never been better. We continue to work step by step towards improving them, with the assistance of the White House,” the U.S. official said.
