Aleksandar Vucic, president of Serbia and leader of the Serbian Progressive Party, said on Oct. 23 that the party Presidency had accepted premier-designate Ana Brnabic's proposal for the new cabinet.

He announced that the new cabinet would not include previous ministers Nebojsa Stefanovic, Aleksandar Vulin, Jadranka Joksimovic and Zorana Mihajlovic. "They will continue to work hard for our party," Vucic said.

He added that Milos Vucevic, who is also supposed to be a deputy prime minister, was a candidate for defense minister, Bratislav Gasic was proposed for interior minister, and Goran Vesic for minister of construction, transport and infrastructure. He went on to say that Sinisa Mali was proposed for finance minister and the spot of a deputy prime minister, Tanja Miscevic for minister of European Union integration, while Dubravka Negre is supposed to become minister of mining and energy and Maja Popovic minister of justice.

The Socialist Party of Serbia and its coalition partners, the Unified Serbia and the Greens of Serbia, are supposed to be given five ministerial seats in the new government, with Socialist party president Ivica Dacic will be the first deputy prime minister, foreign minister and head of the coordination bureau for security services.
