Members of the Kosovo Assembly from the Serb Ticket on Nov. 7 handed in their resignations to the administration of that body, Ilir Kerceli, chief of staff of the speaker, has confirmed.

The report was also confirmed by the Kosovo Assembly Media Office, which issued a statement that ten deputies from the Serb Ticket parliamentary political entity irrevocably resigned. The only Serb Ticket deputy left is Unified Gorani Party member Adem Hodza.

The political representatives of Kosovo Serbs first decided to leave Kosovo institutions after Nenad Djuric, police director for the north region, was suspended for declining to carry out the Kosovo government's decision to issue warnings to car owners who had not replaced their Serbia-issued license plates with Kosovo-issued ones.

The heads and councilors of four northern Kosovo municipalities, and police officers, judges and prosecutors from northern Kosovo also withdrew from the institutions.

Kosovo Interior Minister Xhelal Svecla said 578 Kosovo Serbs had resigned as members of the Kosovo Police to date, adding that he believed this was "a consequence of fear and pressure" from certain criminal groups.

Svecla went on to say that the "actions of the Serb Ticket" followed after talks with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and stated that the purpose was to destabilize "the situation in the country."
