NATO general secretary Jens Stoltenberg on Nov. 7 called Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and urged in that telephone conversation that all sides in disputes related to Kosovo refrain from action that could cause escalation, i.e. unilateral moves that would threaten peace and stability, the president's office said in a press release.
Vucic pointed out to the general secretary of NATO that Pristina was violating the Brussels Agreement with its unilateral moves, by sacking Serb police commander for the North region, Nenad Djuric, by its illegitimate action in relation to license plates and by refusing for almost ten years to form the Community of Serb Municipalities.
The president of Serbia added that Serbia strove to sustain peace and stability and would remain committed to them, the press release added.
The two collocutors also discussed the importance of the role of KFOR and of direct contact between the Serbian chief of staff and the commanding office of NATO forces in Kosovo.
Stoltenberg said NATO valued cooperation with Serbia as a militarily neutral country.
