Kosovo Premier Albin Kurti said on Nov. 11 that peace and security in Europe were not being challenged only by Serbia, but Russia as well, which, even though the two countries did not share borders, "Share goals because they look at states through an ethnic lens because they don't believe in democratic values."
According to the koha.net website, Kurti said in talks at a Peace Forum in Paris that Kosovo was ready for Serbia to offer its hand and create neighborly relations, but "expressed doubt that Serbia can do that."
He said that, 11 years on, relations with Serbia were no better than a decade ago and that there was "a reason" for that. "Serbia has not succeeded in its democratization and is seeking more conflict over cooperation and continues to glorify war criminals instead of condemning and punishing them. I'm afraid Serbia is neither democratic nor independent. This is a regime led by the Orthodox church and dominated by Putin's Russia," Kurti said.
According to him, Kosovo is seeking good ties with Serbia and is "ready to extend a hand to the country that committed a genocide against Kosovo, if it is ready to put down its fist."
