In the night between July 28 and 29, a group of some 20 people wearing hoodies and face masks and shouting “Fire, all out immediately”, stormed into the building of the State University of Novi Pazar and then forcibly evicted the students who refused to leave.

“Once we were all outside, around 4 am, the police escorted University Rector Zana Dolicanin and some professors into the building,” according to one of the protesting students.

The Novi Pazar Police Department chief, Nermin Ljajic, is also in the university building, while some 30 police officers are deployed around the building entrance.

This action of masked civilians has been condemned by the opposition parties and the assembly of citizens of Novi Pazar.
