Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic said after a Nov. 23 tour of a gas compression station in Velika Plana on the Balkan Stream gas pipeline route that Serbia’s gas supply was secure, the Ministry of Mining and Energy quoted Djedovic as saying in a Nov. 23 press release.

“At this point there’s nothing to hinder daily gas deliveries to households, businesses and district heating stations. We have secured additional gas supply from the Russian Federation and Bulgaria,” Djedovic explained.

According to the minister, as gas prices spike repeatedly on the global market, it is very important that Serbia can rely on steady gas supply at a favourable price. “In the coming period, too, we’ll try to secure sufficient gas supply to meet consumption targets,” Djedovic said.

She recalled that the compression station in Velika Plana was the only one on the route transporting 12.4 billion cubic meters of gas every year. The Balkan Stream has made Serbia a gas transit country for Central Europe, which is very useful for Serbia,” Minister Djedovic explained.
