Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said after a Nov. 28 meeting in Bucharest with her Romanian counterpart, Nicolae Ciuca, that Romania didn’t plan to change its positon on Kosovo.
“Romania’s prime minister repeated to me at today’s meeting that Romania would continue to pursue a policy of respect for the territorial integrity of Serbia, and will not give it up regardless of any pressure,” Brnabic said to reporters in Bucharest.
The Serbian PM underlined that over the past 48 hours Serbia heard from its partners in Spain and Romania that they wouldn’t change their position on Kosovo, but she was aware that “the five EU members refusing to recognize Kosovo’s unilaterally proclaimed independence were permanently under enormous pressures.”
Brnabic said that in Bucharest she attended a panel debate on the Western Balakns within the Munich Security Conference, adding that representatives of the region attended it, too, but that Pristina’s were absent.
According to the prime minister, it was a behind-closed-door meeting, discussing the accession to the EU of the entire region, regional initiatives, including the Open Balkan, and the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.
Brnabic discussed with the Romanian PM stronger bilateral ties in economy and politics, as well as the energy sector, suggesting also that the two states’ chambers of commerce should strengthen their cooperation.
