Together party co-president Nebojsa Zelenovic proposed on Dec. 3 the formation of a Balkan Green Party, and said the European Union should help solve problems in the Western Balkans because they cannot be solved without it, the party said in a press release late on Dec. 4.
Zelenovic told the sixth congress of the European Green Party in Copenhagen that the point was to establish the Balkan Green Party with one regional hub, which would be what Brussels is to the EU. He stressed that it "is necessary to change the method of resolving the largest issue in the Western Balkans," adding that Together espoused solving all open issues at the same time.
Zelenovic voiced the conviction that creating one economic area in the region was a way for everyone to enter an accelerated EU association process together. "Before that, it's necessary to achieve the alignment of defense and security policy between all regional actors and [then] align with the EU," he added.
