President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated on Dec. 21 that possibilities existed for further cooperation between Serbia and Azerbaijan, because both countries conduct an independent policy, they are closely connected and rely on their own resources.

He particularly cited energy, the defense industry, transportation and logistics as the fields for good cooperation between the two countries. "There are new possibilities for our cooperation, because Serbia and Azerbaijan rely on their own resources, conduct an independent policy, they are closely connected and they coordinate efforts," Aliyev said in Baku after a meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

Aliyev added that Serbia, thanks to the visionary policy of Aleksandar Vucic, was developing in many fields. The two countries are strategic partners, Aliyev said, adding that they supported each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

"The double standards that we see throughout the world are problematic and alarming. The norms and principles of international law should be the norm for all countries," said the president of Azerbaijan. He stressed that 2022 was a successful year for the two countries' relations and that he hoped the forthcoming one would "emanate the same atmosphere," and that relations were based on friendship and mutual understanding.
