Members of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina arrested Rade Grujic, suspected of having committed war crimes during the war in Bosnia, at the Karakaj border crossing near Zvornik, the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced on Feb. 8.
The announcement reads that Grujic was arrested on the basis of a warrant issued by the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina subsequently ordered a one-month custody period for him. Grujic is under investigation of the Special War Crimes Division of the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina and is suspected of having raped a woman of Bosniac ethnicity in the town of Liplje near Zvornik, while he was a member of the Army of Republika Srpska (RS) during the war in Bosnia.
According to the statement, a large number of Bosniac civilians were imprisoned in Liplje during the war and were physically and mentally abused.
