Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said in Belgrade, on March 3, that the state leadership had been facing serous pressures to bring Kosovo’s unilaterally proclaimed independence to completion.

Speaking to representatives of the Serbian Ministry of Defense, Dacic said that to protect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the state was still a priority for Serbian diplomatic missions. “It is important to state again our clear position – any attempt at resolving the status of Serbia’s southern province [Kosovo] should only be made through the existing mechanism of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue,” Dacic said.

The Serbian foreign minister noted that, “It is also very important to properly present the danger coming from Pristina’s unilateral moves, which often threaten the dialogue.” “Our skill in explaining sensibilities regarding Kosovo and Metohija can certainly improve our overall negotiating position, regardless of the fact that our arguments, however solid, can hardly change the official position of a receiving state,” Dacic said.
