Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated on March 29 that Serbia was not experiencing a shortage of medicines.
She told reporters in Vrsac during a visit to the Hemofarm pharmaceutical producer that she and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic were in permanent contact with the Republic Fund for Medical Insurance and the drug manufacturers in Serbia, in order to prevent such shortages.
“I have asked the director of Hemofarm if they had extra raw materials and he told me that the storages were full. We do not have any problems with medicines,” Brnabic stated.
The general director of the Hemofarm company, Ronald Seeliger, has said that medicine shortages were caused by the shortage of active substances, which is a global problem. “We cannot avoid it, but we are certainly dealing with the problem. We have made sure that the storage of active substances is full in order to mitigate the problem in case of a shortage,” he pointed out.
