The actor Marko Janketic, who received death threats on social networks after saying that he would like his daughters to live "in a society that has not been stripped of its rights, where every institution plays a role," told the latest April 6 edition of the NIN weekly said that people like him were the easiest targets and that he did not expect such a reaction and that "I did not say anything really new."

Janketic told the media earlier that he did not believe that anything could change [in Serbia], and that people "should leave." "I said some things spontaneously, but evidently I struck a nerve.  And I don't think that there was anything revolutionary [in saying this], but here things said by public figures are perceived as an incident," Janketic said for NIN.

He said that he was not a politician and not in "public relations," adding that he always came in a certain mood and spoke honestly. "However, people like me are the easiest targets. We speak facts, which a huge part of the healthy part of Serbia thinks, but will not say. Because freedom of thought has been completely threatened. We live in a fascist-like society. We are a step away from serious persecution," Janketic said.
