The chief prosecutor of the Higher Public Prosecution in Belgrade, Nenad Stefanovic, publicly expressed concern on July 25 over the latest death threats addressed to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic via the X social network, and ordered the prompt identification and prosecution of the creators of the post.
The Special Division for Cybercrime of the Higher public Prosecution in Belgrade has sent a request to the police, on Stefanovic’s orders, to collect the necessary information regarding the post, which consisted of a photograph of the president on the gallows with a caption reading: “Only a people’s court-martial shall save Serbia,” the prosecution has announced.
“Any behavior that calls for the lynching of representatives of the highest state organs is impermissible. For months now, an online campaign has been under way against the president of the Republic, with serious death threats, which is why I expect all state organs to demonstrate maximum responsibility and efficacy in processing the perpetrators of these and similar threats to the representatives of state organs,” the chief prosecutor stated in Belgrade.
