Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians leader and Vojvodina Assembly Speaker Istvan Pastor has said that he does not support the idea of holding a snap election before the end of the year and that "we should not forget that the political challenges are manifold, that life is unpredictable and political stability is the biggest value."

"We have political stability. A strong majority in the Assembly, a functional government. This is why I see no reason to spend energy and money on early elections now. With all of the tensions that life brings we would only add to them with the tensions that elections always bring," Pastor told the April 27 edition of Politika.

He went on to say that, "I do not think that the opposition's wishes should be decisive." "They [the opposition] had a chance to measure their political strength and show themselves. It could be that this stance of mine is a minority stance, that there is something that I do not know or see, and hence for early elections to happen again.  The Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians is ready for this possibility as well, although we do not wish for it," Pastor said.
