U.S., Ukrainian Embassies Criticize Vulin for Participating in Conference in Moscow

The U.S. ambassador in Belgrade, Christopher Hill, and the Embassy of Ukraine in Serbia criticized on May 24 the participation of the director of the Security and Information Agency, Aleksandar Vulin, in an international security conference in Moscow.

In a written statement to Radio Free Europe (RFE), Hill declared that “no one should give legitimacy to Russia’s actions (against Ukraine) by cooperating with the Kremlin as though everything is alright.” “Russia’s aggression against its peaceful neighbor, Ukraine, is illegal and unreasonable. (Russian President) Vladimir Putin started this brutal war. He can and should stop it right away and end the death and destruction that his war is bringing,” Hill stated.

The Embassy of Ukraine told RFE that Serbia and Ukraine were both striving towards EU membership and that Serbia should introduce sanctions against Russia because of it. “We are counting on the EU candidate country joining the common European policy towards the aggressor state of Russia,” the Embassy of Ukraine declared in the statement.

Vulin represented Serbia at the international security conference in Moscow on May 24 and he is seen standing next to Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik in a photo published by Russian media. There is no information about Vulin’s participation in the security conference in Moscow on the web-sites of Serbian state institutions.
