On June 5, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated that certain officials employed by the Government of Serbia have been attending the “Serbia Against Violence” rallies, some even aiding the protest organizers by acting as security monitors.
In her statement for Happy TV, Brnabic said that none of these individuals have lost their job, but that their behavior speaks volumes about their personal integrity.
“They come to work as officials in the same government that has, supposedly, as some claim, brought all the worst to Serbia, that is horrible, violent, [that has] destroyed this society – and then, as proud officials installed by said government, said Aleksandar Vucic, said Serbian Progressive Party, [and] said Ana Brnabic, they come to work and don’t say that things are awful or that they hate what the government and incumbent political elite have shaped Serbia into. No, they remain in their seats as officials of that very government,” she said.
The prime minister underscored that the individuals in question are not clerks or officers employed by the state, but rather persons installed politically.
“That’s the integrity of some people sitting in the government, yet protesting – it seems – over how they themselves shaped society. I would never be part of a government I believed ruined Serbia,” Brnabic concluded.
