On July 1, citizens of the Serbian capital took to the streets for the ninth time to participate in a new Serbia against Violence protest, assembling in front of the Pink TV building to demand that this privately-owned media outlet be stopped from broadcasting nationally.
For over an hour protesters chanted against Pink TV owner Zeljko Mitrovic voicing their dissatisfaction with the station. Mitrovic periodically appeared on the top floor of the building from where he waved.
At the end of the protest, Radomir Lazovic, a member of parliament from the Don't Let Belgrade Drown movement belonging to the Green-Left Club, called on the protesters not to fall for provocations, saying that they were "the light, and Pink the darkness," and that the station "will be sent into history."
In its ninth iteration in Belgrade, the Serbia against Violence protest began in front of Serbian parliament, followed by a march to the Pink TV building. There were no incidents. Security was posted in front of Pink TV, BETA's journalist reported from the scene. Protests were also held in several other Serbian cities.
