The foreign ministers of Serbia and Venezuela, Ivica Dacic and Yvan Gil Pinto, signed an agreement in Belgrade on July 14 cancelling visas for the citizens of the two nations with regular passports and a declaration on political consultations between the two countries.
Dacic told a joint news conference that the signing of the agreement and declaration showed that Serbia wanted to develop its relations with Venezuela, which he described as "extremely close and traditionally friendly" and stressed that they went back 140 years.
Gil Pinto said there were many things in common between Serbia and Venezuela, but most of all respect for the principles of the United Nations Charter, the right of peoples to self-determination and honoring the sovereignty and integrity of states. As for multilateral issues, we shares stances on all issues and this is a good basis for cooperation and working toward new forms of cooperation, especially in agriculture, economically and in the area of trade he said.
While in Serbia, the Venezuelan minister met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Speaker Vladimir Orlic.
