The Media Literacy Award “Dragan Janjic” named after BETA’s late editor in chief, will be awarded on July 20 in Belgrade’s Dorcol Platz, where the winners of the BETA Photography of the Year Competition will be announced as well.
The ceremony starts at 6 p.m., and the cultural center in Belgade’s central municipality of Dorcol will also host a retrospective exhibition covering the 20 years of Beta’s photography contest, and this year’s entries.
The winners of the “Dragan Janjic” Award, granted for the second time by the BETA news agency and the Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia, are Stefan Kosanovic, the author of the article “Sports Psychologist Sasa Sredanovic – an Impostor” that earned him the award in the student category of entries, and Dobrinka Kuzmanovic, a professional journalists who wrote the winning article “From Digital Natives to Digital Idiots – Youth and Digital Gaps.”
The awards are part of the program “New Literacy” carried out by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Propulsion, a ful-service organization specializing in innovative social impact communications.
