Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni said on July 30 that he had useful talks with his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic, and described the visit as a contribution to cooperation between the two countries.

At a joint news conference with Vucic, Museveni spoke about Kampala's excellent relations with the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Serbia, and Yugoslavia before it, are not unknown to us, Museveni said.

In the 1950s and 1960s, he said, Uganda had "excellent relations with Yugoslavia and Tito," and especially "followed the neutral positions" of the era toward the USSR and China. Vucic said he received an invitation from his Ugandan counterpart to attend a Non-Aligned conference, to be held in Kampala next year.

Bilateral agreements were inked during the visit, while a Serbia-Uganda business meeting was also held.
