National Bank of Serbia Governor Jorgovanka Tabakovic on Aug. 1 said the central bank had estimated that inflation would be down to around eight percent by the end of the year.
Speaking at a session of the Serbian Parliament’s Finance, Budget and Public Expenditure Oversight Committee, Tabakovic said that the June inflation was 13.7 percent year-on-year, while almost no hikes in consumer prices had been registered in July.
"We are expecting year-on-year inflation to shrink to 12.5 percent in July and to continue dropping over the coming months, providing nothing unpredictable happened,” Tabakovic said.
She added that the central bank had been successfully conducting country’s monetary policy and had remained a reliable partner of the Serbian cabinet in their effort to preserve macroeconomic and financial stability in the country.
