Sandra Bozic, a member of the presidency of the Serbian Progressive party, said on Aug. 23 that she “wholly agrees” with her colleagues from the ruling parliamentary caucus who advocate returning the electoral threshold to five percent.
Bozic, who is also a deputy parliament speaker, told the pro-regime daily Alo that the opposition “is aware it lacks the support of the people so it finds a five-percent threshold unimaginable.”
“President Aleksandar Vucic has announced that elections could take place within three to seven months, but the opposition cannot dictate which elections will take place,” Bozic added.
Serbia’s current threshold for both parties and coalitions is three percent of valid votes cast.
