On Aug. 23, Ukrainian presidential advisor Mykhailo Podolyak denied allegations that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic “most likely offered arms” to Kiev in exchange for Ukraine’s continued refusal to recognize Kosovo.
Speaking for N1 TV, Podoljak said that these claims – made by European Parliament rapporteur for Kosovo Viola von Cramon – are pure “speculation” and “completely untrue.”
“Everything regarding our arms supply is published in official statements. If we’re talking about 155 calibers, this includes who sent the ammunition, and if we’re speaking of 152- and 122-mm calibers, we report where we bought them,” Podoljak explained.
Following his first official sit-down with Vucic, which took place in Athens on Aug. 22, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that it was “an open, honest and fruitful meeting on honoring the U.N. Charter and border inviolability.”
Vucic’s comment on the meeting was that Serbia would continue respecting Ukraine’s territorial integrity and that he is “nearly convinced that there will be no change to Ukraine’s stance toward Serbia with respect to honoring territorial integrity,” i.e. not recognizing Kosovo’s independence.
