Education Minister Slavica Djukic Dejanovic on Aug. 29 said that this school year, the Ministry would organize additional trainings for teachers and also parents on monitoring behavior of schoolchildren for to ensure a more rapid response to potential problems.
Djukic Dejanovic told TV Happy that educators would undergo trainings on monitoring mental health of schoolchildren, that is, on how to identify those experiencing some sort of pain or suffering.
“The suffering and psychological problems they experience are such that the system must take prevention measures. This entire school year will be devoted to the educational component,” Djukic Dejanovic said.
She added that the first week of this school year would focus on themed talks with schoolchildren, while during the second week, tests would be handed out to evaluate them without using grades.
The minister also said that a total of 93 new teachers and associates, pedagogues, and psychologists had been hired in schools throughout Serbia.
