Green-Left Front caucus head Radomir Lazovic said on Sept. 10 that the “brutal attack” on Kraljevo Local Front activist Predrag Vostinic constitutes attempted murder and must not go unpunished.

After the Local Front announced that Vostinic was knocked off his bike in Kraljevo by a car with Novi Sad license plates, Lazovic issued a statement that the public “must not allow the case to be covered up or presented as an accident.”

“Vostinic has repeatedly been targeted over criticizing the regime, because he refuses to keep silent and watch Serbia hurtle toward doom,” Lazovic said after the Local Front expressed its suspicions that the attack was not coincidental.

Dragan Djilas’s Freedom and Justice Party demanded that the authorities “urgently process the perpetrators of the assault” on Vostanic and “inform the public of [the attackers’] motives.” Anything less, the party said, “will clearly communicate that this was a politically-motivated attack” whereby the regime “attempted to intimidate or eliminate yet another person fighting for a decent Serbia.”

Also commenting on the incident, Balsa Bozovic, a representative of the Regional Academy for Democratic Development, said that the attack on Vostanic, “whom the car first pushed onto the shoulder of the road, then returned to knock him off his bicycle, requires an urgent, harsh and uncompromising reaction from all relevant authorities.”
