Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated on Sept. 20 that the 78th session of the U.N. General assembly was an opportunity to “further advocate the preservation of peace and stability in the region” at meetings with world leaders.
“This week in New York is the opportunity to exchange views with world leaders about the current situation in Europe and the world, challenges in the fields of migration, climate change and sustainable development, but also to additionally advocate the preservation of peace and stability in the region,” Vucic posted on Instagram.
“Besides meeting with U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres, I also had long conversations with friends – the president of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the president of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Dias-Canel,” the Serbian president announced after the reception, organized by the Secretary General in honor of the heads of delegations.
The Serbian president also participated in an informal lunch on Sept. 19, organized for the Western Balkan leaders by the European Union’s high representative for foreign policy and security, Josep Borrell. Vucic added that Serbia continued its responsible and principled policy, based on the preservation of national interests, open for constructive cooperation in the region that is directed towards the fulfilling of the strategic goal – EU membership.
