Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is trying to prevent Montenegro's accession to the European Union (EU) and his political program is based on blocking the entire region's European integration, opposition Freedom and Justice Party secretary for international affairs Konstantin Samofalov said on June 16.

Samofalov told the Danas newspaper that Serbia being outside the EU suits Vucic because in that case it is not subject to strict control.

"He can keep taking away and stealing only if we stay in the gray zone between Beijing and Istanbul," said the Freedom and Justice Party official.
