The Serbian Government has declared Wednesday, Sept. 27 a national day of mourning for the recent tragic events in Kosovo and Metohija, in which at least four Serbs were killed.

The Government has asked all media outlets and organizers of public events to comply with mourning norms and thereby honor the killed in Kosovo and Metohija.

In a clash between a group of Kosovo Serbs and the Kosovo police in the village of Banjska in North Kosovo on Sept. 24, one ethnic Albanian police officer and at least four Serbs were killed.

The Serb List party has declared a three-day mourning period from Sept. 26 through Sept. 28, in the Serb-majority settlements in Kosovo and Metohija to honor the killed in Banjska.

In a release, the Serb List said that all entertainment events organized by local self-governments and institutions would be canceled and that the Serbian national flag would be flown at half-mast during the period of mourning.
