Kosovo Premier Albin Kurti stated on Sept. 27 that the attack in Banjska testified to the danger, purpose and potential of, in his words, “Serb criminal and terrorist groups in the north.”

Kurti stated during a government session that the events on Sept. 24 violated the sovereignty, integrity and national security of Kosovo. He called on all citizens of Kosovo to thank the Kosovo police wherever they meet them.

“In that context, the Kosovo police and security institutions in general have demonstrated exceptional professionalism. They have shown to be fully capable of protecting the Republic. That is the greatest success since independence, the success that makes us all proud. Therefore, I call on everyone here, on all the citizens of Kosovo, to thank the police in uniform whenever and wherever they see them,” he said, adding that more than five million euros worth of weapons was seized in Banjska.

In his words, the attack has shown the need for greater international cooperation in “protecting and controlling the border with Serbia.” “And, with that, the need for open punishment by clear and concrete language and demands of the international community towards Serbia,” Kurti said.
