After being blocked for 10 days, the Brnjak administrative crossing between Serbia proper and Kosovo reopened to traffic in the morning of Oct. 4, deputy police chief for northern Kosovo Veton Elsani has confirmed.
“As of 8 a.m., Brnjak has been fully open, while the Jarinje crossing isn’t yet, because the area is still being surveilled,” Elsani told the KosSev – Kosovo Sever Portal website, and was unable to specify when the Jarinje crossing would be completely unblocked as well.
The two administrative crossings were closed to traffic on Sept. 24 following a gunfight between an armed group of Serbs and Kosovo police, which claimed the life of police officer Afrim Bunjaku and three Serbs.
Since then, traffic was allowed to leave Kosovo, but entering Kosovo’s north through Brnjak only became possible on Oct. 2.
